Did a man attack an enforcement officer in Batu Pahat for issuing a parking compound?

VERDICT:

TRUE

Batu Pahat OCPD Asst Comm Ismail Dollah said police had received a report on the incident from a Batu Pahat Municipal Council enforcement officer at about 3.15pm on Wednesday (Nov 1).

“The complainant said that he was issuing parking compounds at Jalan Flora in Taman Flora here when a 33-year-old local man attacked him.

“He said that the man tried to stop him from issuing a compound for parking without displaying parking tickets. The man then pushed the complainant, resulting in him falling on his motorcycle.

“The complainant said he was forced to protect himself due to the attack,” ACP Ismail said in a statement.

He added that police are investigating the case under Sections 186 and 353 of the Penal Code for deterring a public servant from discharging his duty and using force on a civil servant.

“The fight was resolved by members of the public in the area. Both suffered light injuries in the incident and have received treatment at the Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital.

“We urge the public to adhere to the law and not to be too emotional to the extent that they commit a criminal offence.

“The public should also respect enforcement officers who are carrying out their duties,” he said.

ACP Ismail also said a ten-second video clip of the incident has made the rounds on social media.
