Quick Check: Have scammers used the SC name and logo to dupe potential investors?

SCAMMERS are everywhere these days, waiting for their next unassuming victim.

They even masquerade as government agencies and civil servants.

Recently, scammers have been spotted using the Securities Commission (SC) name and logo in an application for approval for trading and investment by using a participating organisation of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad to cheat investors.

Is this real? Are scammers using the official logo of the Securities Commission (SC) to deceive the public?

Verdict:

TRUE

A post shared on the Amaran Scam Facebook page confirmed that scammers are using a fake letter of trade which bears the SC name and logo to trick the public.

Amaran Scam advised the public to always use the Securities Commission’s (SC) Investor Alert list on its website (https://www.sc.com.my/investor-alert) before investing.

It also advised the public to reach out to SC should they have any doubts at 03-6204 8999 or email their questions to aduan@seccom.com.my.
