QuickCheck: Was a man stabbed in the neck with glass fragments in KL?

ALMOST nothing good happens at the dark alley during the wee hours, or so the crime drama trope goes.

Recently, two men were seen fighting in an early-hour back ally brawl in Kuala Lumpur for reasons unknown.

But is it true that the fight turned deadly when one of the two involved picked up a broken piece of glass and used it as a weapon?

Verdict:

TRUE

Wangsa Maju deputy OCPD Dep Supt Norhisham Mustapar said police were notified of the fight, which took place at the back lane of a restaurant in Jalan Peel around 3:20am on Thursday (Feb 1).

Initial investigation showed that the incident involved two men, aged 22 to 28, he added.

He said one of the men grabbed a piece of broken glass from the ground and stabbed the other in the neck before fleeing the scene.

The victim, who was sent to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for treatment, was pronounced dead later.

DSP Norhisham said police from the district Criminal Investigation Department and the City Serious Crimes Unit arrested the suspect at KLIA 2 departure terminal at 2.30pm the same day.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

The suspect has been remanded for six days starting Feb 2.

Police urged those with information to call the Kuala Lumpur Police hotline at 03-21159999 or any police station.
