QuickCheck: Did a viral video of an argument over debt originate in Klang?

RECENTLY, a video has gone viral showing a group of people arguing in front of a house in Klang.

Allegedly, the incident was caused by a disagreement over a business debt. Is this true?

Verdict:

TRUE

Investigations by police found that it stemmed from a disagreement between a women's accessories shop owner and a customer, South Klang OCPD Asst Comm Cha Hoong Fong said in a statement.

"The incident came to our notice after officers from the South Klang police headquarters discovered the viral video of the group arguing in a residential area on Saturday (Feb 24).

"The incident occurred at approximately 6pm on Feb 12 and involved five people at a house in Taman Saujana in Klang, Selangor," said ACP Cha.

He added that the argument was between the shop owner and the family of a customer who owed the business money.

"Initially, the family was unaware of the problem but as soon as the real issue was made apparent, the family resolved to settle the debt.

"However, one of the family members recorded the incident and uploaded the video to Facebook.

"Both parties have been taken in to have their statements recorded and make a police report, but neither party has opted to take legal action," said ACP Cha.
