SEEING that Malaysia is in a part of the world where the sun is a constant companion, it is assumed that shadows will follow us wherever we go once we step outdoors.
As such, any instance where we'll be shadow-less while under the hot sun will create quite a bit of buzz.
It has been claimed that people in Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur will be missing their shadows at noon on Wednesday (March 27) and Thursday (March 28) respectively.
Is this true?
VERDICT:
TRUE
Yes, this was confirmed by the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry in a post on their official Facebook account - and the post includes an explanation as to why this will happen on Wednesday and Thursday.
The Ministry said this follows from the Spring Equinox which fell on March 20, which is when the sun shines precisely on the Equator
"For locations that are on the Equator such as Pontianak in Indonesia and Quito in Ecuador, they will be shadow-less at noon," says the Ministry.
It then said that this will also be experienced by locations that are not located precisely on the Equator, just on different dates.
"A shadow-less noon in Malaysia will occur slightly after the Equinox, in Putrajaya on March 27 and in Kuala Lumpur on March 28," added the Ministry.
