VERDICT:

TRUE

This was confirmed by Kota Kinabalu OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zaidi Abdullah, who said that the police are indeed looking for the person following a report lodged on April 7.

He said that in the report on the April 6 incident, the victim had entered the toilet at around 8.40pm when she saw a hand with a handphone under the door.

She had screamed when she saw that, as she believed the person was recording her.

“Following her police report, police retrieved a closed circuit television (CCTV) recording of a man around the area at that time,” said ACP Zaidi.

He added that the suspect is believed to be in his 20s, has a thin mustache and was wearing a black T-shirt and brown coloured pants at the time of the offence.

He said a photo of a man whom they believe can shed light on this case has been distributed and urged that the person come forward to facilitate investigations under Section 509 of the Penal Code for insulting the modesty of a woman.

Anyone with information on this case has been asked to contact investigating officer Sjn Wan Azman Mat Salleh at 012-8260050.
