A VIDEO has been circulating online of CCTV footage showing a suspicious man allegedly breaking into a flat in Damansara Damai in Petaling Jaya.

The video was posted on TikTok on Wednesday (May 1) with the poster saying that the burglar ran away with two of her mobile phones.

Is it true that this burglary actually took place in Petaling Jaya?

Verdict:

TRUE

In a statement on Thursday (May 2), Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Shahrulnizam Jaa'far said that a report on the incident was lodged on April 30 where the 37-year-old complainant said that her home in Damansara Damai had been broken into.

"At around 7am, the complainant had woken up and noticed that her front door was opened, leading her to believe that somebody had trespassed inside," he said, adding that two mobile phones were reported stolen.

The next day a video clip of the incident was uploaded onto Tiktok.

"Losses (due to the stolen phone) was estimated to be around RM500," he said.

Investigations are ongoing with the case being investigated for theft.
