THERE is an old saying, that a man's home is his castle. After all, it is the place where a person would logically believe himself to be at his safest.
As such, it is highly unnerving when a person is attacked in their own home and any video claiming to show something like this would go viral rapidly for this very reason.
Recently, a video of a man being attacked in his own home by an armed person went viral along with the claim that it happened in Ipoh.
Is this true?
VERDICT:
TRUE
This was confirmed in a statement by Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad, who said that the incident happened at about 2.55am on May 22.
He added that the attack took place at a house at Kampung Baru Buntong, Ipoh, and said that the case is being investigated under Section 395 and 397 of the Penal Code.
Section 397 states that it is an offence to use a weapon to commit an act of robbery, and Section 395 states that whoever commits gang robbery is liable to a jail term which may extend to twenty years, and shall also be liable to whipping.
"A police report has been received and efforts are underway to track down and arrest the suspect," said ACP Abang Zainal.
"Anyone who has information can come into the Ipoh district police headquarters. The public is also advised to always be alert and safeguard themselves and their property," he added.
