Reports have surfaced about a fight breaking out at a grocery store in Seberang Jaya, Butterworth. Is there any truth to this incident?

Two men were arrested for their alleged involvement in a fight at a grocery store in Seberang Jaya, Butterworth. Central Seberang Perai OCPD Asst Comm Helmi Aris said the suspects, in their 30s and 40s, were detained following the fight, which went viral in two video clips on social media.

"They were detained to assist in the investigation of the incident," he said in a statement on Friday (June 7).

ACP Helmi said the video, which went viral on June 6 at 9.45am, showed the suspects exchanging punches at a grocery store in Seberang Jaya.

He said an investigation found that the incident happened on June 3 at about 11.50pm.

He said during the incident, one of the suspects, who worked as a salesperson at the store, was confronted by another suspect who came with his friend and wanted to buy alcoholic drinks.

"During that time, a misunderstanding occurred which escalated into a fistfight between the two individuals, with one of them striking the other on the back with a helmet outside the premises," he said.

He said the suspects were arrested and will be investigated under Sections 324 and 323 of the Penal Code and Section 12 of the Minor Offenses Act 1955.
