IMAGINE the bustle of Jalan Bukit Bintang - a haven for shoppers and tourists in Kuala Lumpur - being interrupted by the whizz of e-scooters.
As pedestrians turn their heads, the riders become unwitting stars of a viral sensation.
But, is the buzz true? Were two tourists really filmed navigating this busy thoroughfare on their electronic steeds?
VERDICT:
TRUE
Kuala Lumpur police are investigating a video of two people riding e-scooters along Jalan Bukit Bintang that has surfaced online.
According to Sinar Harian, Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department head ACP Sarifudin Mohd Salleh said that the video first came to the attention of authorities on Monday (June 10).
He added that riding e-scooters on public roads could endanger both the riders and others.
Although no police reports have been filed to establish the precise timing of the event, the search for the identities of the two individuals is underway.
The case is being investigated under Section 3(1) of PU (A) 453/2021, following the appearance of the short clip which shows what appears to be two foreign nationals manoeuvring an e-scooter between lanes amid the flow of traffic.
