QuickCheck: Was a teenager slapped around in public by several people in Sarawak?


INCIDENTS of violence tend to draw attention, and this is especially so when several people are seen ganging up to attack one person.

As such, any videos that show such an incident tend to go viral rapidly along with any claims made about the content of the footage.

Recently, a video of a teenager being slapped around by several people went viral along with the claim that this happened in Betong, Sarawak.

Is this true?

TRUE

The police have detained nine individuals suspected of being involved in a bullying incident involving a teenage boy in Spaoh which went viral on social media.

Betong district police chief DSP Zamry Alli said in a statement that the suspects are aged between 12 and 26 and were arrested after the victim lodged a report at the Betong police station on Monday (June 24).

Zamry also urged the public not to speculate about the incident as the case is still under investigation.

Earlier, a video went viral on TikTok and Facebook showing a teenager being slapped multiple times on the face and head by an individual in the presence of several other young men.
