QuickCheck: Was there a brawl at a Sibu night market?


Night markets are awesome. Filled with traders selling delicious food, drinks and random stuff, there's always something to buy at a night market. Night markets also attract people from all walks of life and sometimes that includes people who really should have just stayed home. Was there a brawl in a Sibu night market which saw a stall damaged and three people arrested?

According to Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Zulkipli Suhaili, the incident, which has since gone viral, took place around 8.45pm on Monday (July 22) at a night market on Jalan Cross.

"A man who was drunk caused a disturbance and damaged a stall.

"This resulted in a few other individuals beating up the man and injuring him," he said in a statement on Tuesday (July 23).

Police arrested the man, a 31-year-old Indonesian, and two local men, aged 31 and 35, following the incident.

ACP Zulkipli said none of the men had a criminal record and police are still tracking a few more people involved in the incident.
