But is there really a big cat prowling around in Selangor, or is it just another case of mistaken identity?

Verdict:

FALSE

The Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) Selangor has debunked the claim of a tiger sighting in Bukit Botak, Jeram, on Tuesday (Aug 27).

"The investigation found that the location of the tiger sighting was actually around Kuala Betis, Kelantan," said its director, Wan Mohd Adib Wan Mohd Yusoh.

"I have checked with Perhilitan Kelantan, which confirmed that the complaint about the video was made on Aug 21," he said when contacted by Sinar Harian on Wednesday (Aug 28).

"Therefore, the public is advised not to spread information that could cause unnecessary worry among local residents," he added.

Wan Mohd Adib also advised that any information should first be directed to Perhilitan Selangor for verification and further action.

"Additionally, the public who encounter wildlife, especially tigers, should not take matters into their own hands and should move to a safer location," he added.
