UNLESS you’re a member of the royal family or a VVIP, police escorts are rarely engaged for individuals during their commute. Recently, a video has gone viral showing a civilian vehicle being accompanied by police outriders. Did such an incident really happen?
VERDICT:
FALSE
Sepang OCPD Asst Comm Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof said the police are currently tracking down the individual who recorded a video showing a civilian vehicle being "escorted" by a police patrol MPV.
“Preliminary investigations have been unable to confirm the exact date and time the incident was recorded. The video is merely a staged stunt created for publicity purposes.
“The MPV was occupied by officers from the Dengkil Police Station on patrol duty, and the 'beacon' light was activated when there was no traffic congestion. The car owner recorded the video, purportedly being escorted by an MPV," he added.
