VIDEOS of traffic incidents often go viral, especially when it leads to cases of road rage.

One such video that has gone viral on social media shows an incident involving a car that veers into the bus and lorry lane of a road, nearly cutting off a motorcycle travelling in the same direction.

Is it true that the incident happened on the Second Link Highway in Johor Baru?

Iskandar Puteri police have confirmed the incident and said they are aware of the 32-second video shared on the Facebook page JB TRACER II (Johor Baru Traffic, Crime and Community Service Report 2) that was uploaded by a user using the handle "Joekim Mako".

In a statement, Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm M. Kumarasan said the video, shot from the perspective of the motorcyclist, showed a grey car abruptly changing lanes and cutting into the left lane at a double line.

"This led to a provocation between the motorcycle rider and the car driver," he said.

ACP Kumarasan added that the case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955.

"Members of the public who have any information regarding this incident can contact the investigating officers Insp Muhammad Farhan Roselan at 017-630 4943 (Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department) and Insp Amirul Iman Hassan Nasirudin at 011-2686 1695 (Criminal Investigation Department)," he said.

He also said that the police advised the public to comply with road rules and laws for their own safety and that of other road users.
