PROMOTING any product on any platform without the permission of the parties concerned is wrong and to some extent, legal action can be taken against those found to be promoting products without permission given.
Recently, a website, supposedly a local Malay daily has been in the spotlight for promoting Mardi’s products on its social media platform.
However, is this a fake website?
VERDICT:
TRUE
Referring to the post on the Facebook page "Berita Harian - Agriculture," Mardi would like to inform that we have never issued or promoted any products as displayed.
The images and names of the director-general of Mardi, including the names of the farmers mentioned, have been used without permission from Mardi.
This is the second time this page has used Mardi's name to promote products that are not the result of Mardi's research.
"We'd like to remind the public not to engage in any transactions through that page. Mardi is not responsible for any losses incurred from dealings with unauthorised parties," it said in a statement.
For accurate information regarding Mardi's technology and services, please follow its official social media pages or visit www.mardi.gov.my.
