TRUE
A fire did indeed break out at a palm oil processing plant in the Pasir Gudang Industrial Area in Johor, damaging approximately 10% of its structure.
Pasir Gudang Fire and Rescue Department operation commander Sarhan Akmal Mohamad told The Star that an emergency call was received at 10.04pm on Sunday, Oct 20.
Fire engines reached the location by 10.07pm, and the blaze was brought under control within an hour.
The plant's proximity, just two kilometres from the Pasir Gudang Fire Station, enabled the swift response by the fire crew.
The fire originated in the plant's Thermal Oil System area, which measured roughly 7.6m by 9.1m by 76.2m.
Preliminary estimates suggested that around 10% of the facility was impacted.
The firefighting operation employed three 61m hoses, two branch dividers, and five water jets.
Six 25-litre foam tanks were also utilised to extinguish the fire more effectively.
The internal fire suppression system of the plant, which functioned well, significantly aided in expediting the firefighting efforts.
By 11.06pm, the fire was fully contained, with cooling operations conducted to prevent a recurrence.
The operation officially concluded at 12.21am.
No casualties were recorded, and investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage.
