QuickCheck: Did a man go around breaking car windows in Penang?


INSTANCES of people causing havoc are always shocking and alarming, and as such any videos of these acts tends to go viral rapidly along with any accompanying claims about where it happened and what provoked it.

Recently, it was reported that a man was seen breaking car windows along the Dr Lim Chong Eu Highway in Bayan Lepas, Penang. Is this true?

According to Barat Daya OCPD Asst Comm Sazalee Adam, the 41-year-old local man was detained at the scene by police after receiving reports from the public regarding the incident.

"Acting on information, the police went to the scene and arrested the man for causing a disturbance and breaking car windows at the location,” he said when contacted by Bernama on Thursday (Nov 7).

ACP Sazalee said that further investigations are ongoing, including determining the motive behind the man's actions.

He added that the man is currently under remand to assist with the investigation.
