IN THE ever-evolving world of online businesses, one man's unique venture has captured widespread attention.
From selling typical consumer goods to more niche products, there's always something new on social media.
But has someone truly taken to platforms like Instagram and TikTok to sell burial shrouds?
Verdict:
TRUE
A man in Bandung, West Java, has captured the public's attention with his antics by selling burial shrouds online on social media platforms Instagram and TikTok, as reported by Sinar Harian.
Recently, Yoka started a business named Kafani, specialising in selling burial shrouds (or kain kafan), which he claims have never been seen sold on social media before.
He said, "I started this business because I was concerned that some people might find it difficult to source burial shrouds when someone passes away, especially at night."
"Another concern is that some people are not skilled in handling the bodies of their deceased relatives," he added.
Yoka also said he was spreading awareness by encouraging people to pay attention to matters related to funeral management.
He explained, "We are actually too ignorant and do not understand. In Islam, it is recommended that the burial shroud be purchased from the deceased's estate.
"We are too ignorant and unaware that caring for the deceased is greatly rewarding. Through Kafani, hopefully, it can be a way for us to spread awareness."
Aside from selling burial shrouds, Kafani also sells all equipment related to funeral management.
He mentioned, "Many do not know what equipment should be prepared for the deceased, such as camphor, side cloth, cotton, towels, corpse perfume, bidara powder, scissors, and so on."
Last week, Yoka held a live sales session on TikTok. Overall, from five live broadcasts, he received a lot of positive feedback.
He said that many took the preparation for handling bodies seriously, though there were some joking comments.
Since he began marketing his products, Yoka has consistently explained all funeral management methods seriously.
However, thousands have responded with various odd questions, and he never expected his product to go viral across Indonesia.
