QuickCheck: Are scammers masquerading as EPF on TikTok?


RECENTLY, a short video uploaded on TikTok has gone viral claiming to offer personal financing through the Employees Provident Fund (EPF).

The account claims to represent the EPF and offers a special financing scheme for those aged 53, 54, 55, 59 and 60.

Is this true?

VERDICT:

FALSE

EPF's official Facebook said that the video was not true and warned the public not to be deceived by such misleading information.

"Don't be fooled by those misusing the name of EPF," the post read.

It also urged the public to be cautious and not be deceived by individuals and groups misusing EPF's name online.

It urged the public to visit the EPF website at www.kwsp.gov.my or its official social media pages for any inquiries about the fund.
