To paraphrase Destiny's Child - Did I pay my bills? Did I pay my electricity bill? If I did then maybe I could chill.
Sometimes we forget to pay our utility bills and that could lead to anxiety of having your electricity or water being cut. Luckily, utility companies like Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) sends automated SMS messages to customers if their payment is due. Is this true?
VERDICT:
FALSE
Yup, TNB does not message customers via SMS to pay their overdue bills.
According to the company, people who receive messages asking to settle their "overdue electric bill" should not click on the link in the message as it is a rampant spoofing scam.
"Only use official channels to pay your electric bill," the company said on its Facebook page.
These official channels include the myTNB app, myTNB portal, Touch'n Go eWallet, JomPAY and online banking.
So as long as you stick to these channels to pay your bills, your electric bills, you can chill.
