QuickCheck: Is Rapid Penang offering an unlimited travel pass for RM14?

IN THE world of public transport, an offer for an unlimited travel pass at a remarkably low price is bound to catch attention.

Recently, a claim about Rapid Penang providing a six-month unlimited travel pass for RM14 has been circulating online.

But is this offer truly coming from Rapid Penang?

Verdict:

FALSE

Rapid Penang, operated by Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd, has denied any offer of a Pas Mutiara unlimited travel pass for RM14 for six months.

In a statement released in George Town, Rapid Bus clarified that the promotion circulating on Facebook via Pengangkutan Awam Pulau Pinang is not legitimate and is not an initiative issued by Rapid Penang.

The company stressed that any promotions or offers involving Rapid Penang's products and services will only be announced through the official Rapid Penang social media channels.

Rapid Bus also emphasised that the actions of those responsible for spreading this false information are illegal and have tarnished the company's image.

In addition, Rapid Bus has filed a police report and urged the public to be cautious and not be deceived by unofficial information, advertisements or offers.
