QuickCheck: Did a man get into a car chase with law enforcement in Selangor?


SERDANG: It seems like scenes from action movies sometimes happen in real life, such as car chases.

In these instances, any video recorded tends to go viral quickly along with any claims about what is being seen on screen.

Recently, a video of a black car leading police on a car chase went viral along with the claim that this happened in Seri Kembangan, Selangor.

Is this true?

TRUE

A man's attempt to flee when stopped by police on Jalan Persiaran Pinggiran Putra, Seri Kembangan led to his arrest on Tuesday (Dec 24).

Serdang OCPD Asst Comm A A Anbalagan, said the incident occurred around 1pm when the suspect was initially spotted driving a black car suspiciously.

He stated that three police officers on crime patrol then proceeded to stop the suspect's vehicle.

However, the 41-year-old local man attempted to escape by speeding off towards Puchong via the Damansara-Puchong Expressway (LDP) but was ultimately detained.

ACP Anbalagan added that a check found that the man had 18 previous cases in his criminal record, and a search at the scene found a transparent plastic packet containing drugs believed to be syabu.

He then said that the case is being investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Earlier, a video recording went viral on social media showing a car driven by an individual speeding away when stopped by several police officers.
