Is it true that Perhilitan seized 52 wild primates there?

A total of 52 wild animals were seized by the Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) during an operation at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Pos Aviation Cargo, Free Trade Zone on Tuesday (Dec 24).

It said that the wild animals seized were 48 primates believed to be common marmosets and four others suspected to be golden-handed tamarins, adding that all were found in seven wooden cages.

Perhilitan said in a statement on Wednesday (Dec 25) that an individual believed to be an agent for a syndicate was also arrested during the operation.

The suspect was arrested under the International Trade in Endangered Species Act 2008 (Act 686) for further investigation.
