IN A scene that seems straight out of a comedy, a parked lorry in Bangsar decided to go on an unsupervised adventure.

The lorry, apparently tired of waiting, rolled backward into traffic, knocking over a post and gate, with the entire escapade caught on video.

Could it really be true that this unmanned lorry caused chaos on the streets of Kuala Lumpur?

Verdict:

TRUE

The police are investigating an incident involving an unmanned parked lorry, which rolled into traffic and knocked over a post and a gate at Jalan Bukit Pantai, Bangsar.

The video of the incident has since gone viral on social media.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement department (JSPT) chief Asst Comm Zamzuri Mohd Isa said the incident occurred at about 4.20pm on Dec 28.

Initial investigation showed the incident occurred after the vehicle's 64-year-old lorry driver parked it at the side of the road with the engine running.

The lorry was carrying rocks and the driver had stopped to ask for directions to a disposal site.

The lorry suddenly backed into traffic before knocking over a post and the Syarikat Air Selangor's office gate.

Allegedly, the incident was caused by the driver who had failed to fully engage the vehicle's handbrake while it was parked on a slope.

The driver did not sustain any injury, and the accident did not involve other vehicles.

ACP Zamzuri urged all drivers to fully inspect their vehicles before leaving them to prevent such accidents.
