It was claimed recently that a landslide occurred in Kelantan, and photos claiming to be of this disaster went viral online.

Is it true that heavy rain led to a landslide near a kampung there?

VERDICT:

TRUE

The Kelantan Fire and Rescue Department confirmed this in a statement, saying that they received an emergency call about the incident at Kampung Nganga near Kuala Krai, Kelantan.

According to a Department spokesperson, the incident did not involve any victims, and the affected area was around 12 metres high and almost seven metres wide.

They added that soil movement is still occurring in the area and said that residents are advised to be more cautious and vigilant, especially during the rainy season.

In the video that went viral on Tuesday (Dec 30), earth and small rocks can be seen crashing down onto the roof of a house by a hillside.
