Reports have surfaced about an unusual incident involving a car and a petrol station in Ipoh.

It has been claimed that the car crashed through a glass wall at the petrol station, and the news has gone viral as people ask questions as to how such an incident could happen.

Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad confirmed that the incident happened, saying that a retired teacher drove his car through the glass wall of a petrol station in Bercham.

He said the 77-year-old man's vehicle hit a bump, which caused him to accidentally step on the accelerator during the incident at about 11.30am on Tuesday (Jan 7).

ACP Abang Zainal Abidin said no one was injured in the incident.

"The case will be investigated under Rule 10 of the Road Traffic Rules for failing to control a vehicle while driving," he said.

He added that police had taken the man's statement and no one was arrested.

"We advise people to always be careful while driving," he said.
