Recently, a clip of a fight went viral when it was uploaded to social media along with a claim that it happened in Kluang, Johor.

Did this happen as claimed?

A fight erupted at a restaurant in Kluang, leading to the arrest of 13 people, including a teenager.

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said a call came from the public about the incident which took place in the Kluang town area at around 9.45pm on Wednesday (Jan 8).

At around 11.15pm the same night, police arrested the 13 suspects at three different locations.

The suspects include a 17-year-old boy who is no longer studying.

The altercation stemmed from a verbal disagreement between two suspects that began two days prior.

"One of them reportedly provoked the other by inviting him to the restaurant, where the fight later broke out," ACP Bahrin said on Thursday (Jan 9).

He added that five of the 13 suspects had prior criminal and drug records, but all tested negative for drugs.

The suspects are aged 17 to 54 and were placed under a four-day remand until January 12.

The case is being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting, which carries a maximum jail term of two years, a fine, or both upon conviction.
