IMPERSONATING others to commit a crime is not uncommon, and such instances tend to go viral when those who allegedly committed the crime are said to have pretended to be government officials.
It was claimed recently that the nine suspects arrested in connection with an armed robbery at a vegetable farm in Mantin, Negri Sembilan had impersonated government officers when committing the crime.

This was confirmed by Nilai police chief Supt Abdul Malik Hasim; he said that the case is being probed under sections 394, 170, 427 and 447 of the Penal Code for impersonating a civil servant, trespassing, committing mischief and voluntarily causing hurt while committing a robbery.
In a statement on Tuesday (Jan 14), he said that information had been received just after midnight from a man who said that nine individuals had forcefully entered his vegetable farm just past midnight and robbed his six workers.
"Some of the workers had also sustained injuries in the incident," he said.
Supt Abdul Malik said the police team sent to the area around 5.30am managed to apprehend the suspects and added that all arrested are all in their 20s.
Also seized were five motorcycles and seven mobile phones belonging to the suspects.
Supt Abdul Malik said police have obtained an order to remand the suspects for seven days till Jan 20.
