A man ran amok at a restaurant near Hospital Banting in Banting, Selangor which led him to being shot by a security guard.

A 57-second video of the incident went viral on social media, showing individuals using chairs to defend themselves from the man.

Kuala Langat District OCPD Supt Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi reported that they received a distress call at 12.05am from a local individual about his brother causing a disturbance at home, leading to the man being taken to Hospital Banting for treatment.

"At 3.31pm, police received a call reporting a man causing a disturbance and brandishing a machete at medical officers in a restaurant.

"A security guard, who was on duty at the hospital, fired a shot at the man striking his leg," said Supt Mohd Akmalrizal, adding that the shot caused a fracture in the man's leg.

"The police are investigating the case under Section 307 of the Penal Code and Section 39 of the Firearms Act 1960," he said adding that he adivsed the public not to speculate on the case.

"Anyone with information regarding the case can contact the Kuala Langat district police headquarters," he said.
