TIMELINE - Invasion, surge and withdrawal; U.S. forces in Iraq


REUTERS - The United States is on course to reduce down its forces in Iraq to 50,000 by Tuesday, but there are doubts President Barack Obama can fulfil his pledge to withdraw all U.S. troops by the end of 2011.

The remaining troops will train Iraqi armed forces and police units.
