HELSINKI, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- The Finnish government on Tuesday evening decided to shorten the opening hours of restaurants and bars in response to the increasing COVID-19 cases.
From Oct. 8, all restaurants and bars throughout Finland must close at 1 a.m. and stop selling alcohol at 12 p.m., said Krista Kiuru, the Minister of Family Affairs and Social Services at a government press conference, adding that would be "the new national normal." In regions where the COVID-19 infection has reached "the acceleration phase," closing time will be 11 p.m., with alcohol sales ending at 10 p.m..
