Elected parliamentary representative shot dead in Myanmar's eastern state

YANGON, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- A parliamentary representative of the ruling National League for Democracy (NLD), who was elected in the general elections, was shot dead at his home in Myanmar's Shan state on Saturday, a spokesperson of the party told Xinhua.

Htike Zaw, a representative winning a seat in the House of Nationalities (Upper House) in the general elections, was shot in his chest at home in Kyaukme township at around 06:00 p.m. local time, said Monywa Aung Shin, secretary of the NLD's Central Information Committee.
