Sweden's eight-people public gathering rules to remain in place through Christmas

STOCKHOLM, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- Sweden's ban on public gatherings of more than eight people will remain in place through the Christmas holidays as the country is seeing a surge in coronavirus infections.

"This year, Christmas can not be as usual," Prime Minister Stefan Lofven said Tuesday at a press conference, where decisions were announced by the government not to lift the restrictions on public gatherings introduced in November.
