Chile reports 28 pct jump in new COVID-19 cases

SANTIAGO, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- Chile registered a 28 percent increase in the number of new COVID-19 infections in the past two weeks, the Ministry of Health said Monday.

Tests detected 1,923 new cases of infection in the previous 24 hours, for a total caseload of 602,028, while the COVID-19 death toll climbed to 16,443 since the onset of the pandemic in the South American country.
