BRUSSELS, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- COVID-19 figures in Belgium showed a continuing downward trend, with an average of 1,589 new infections per day reported from Dec. 25 to Dec. 31, a decrease of 27 percent on a weekly basis, the public health institute Sciensano reported on Monday.
To date, Belgium has recorded a total of 650,011 COVID-19 cases and 19,701 deaths, Sciensano data showed.
