JERUSALEM, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- The Israeli government has approved a program to help self-employed and small and medium-sized business owners deal with the COVID-19 crisis, the Ministry of Finance and the Prime Minister's Office said in a joint statement on Monday.

The new program, which will cost more than 2 billion new shekels (620 million U.S. dollars), follows similar previous ones launched by the government since the outbreak of the coronavirus crisis in the country in late February 2020.
