Spanish government's energy-saving decree wins Congress support

MADRID, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- An energy-saving decree approved by Spain's Council of Ministers on August 1st has now been given the green light by the Congress (the lower house of the Spanish Parliament).

The decree was approved on Thursday with 187 votes in favor and 161 against. It was supported by Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez's Socialist Party (PSOE) and its Unidas Podemos coalition partners, along with groups such as the Basque Nationalist Party (PNV) and the Catalan nationalists Esguerra Republicana (ERC).
