5.6-magnitude quake hits western Indonesia

JAKARTA, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 jolted Indonesia's western province of Bengkulu on Thursday morning, the meteorology, climatology and geophysics agency said.

The quake rocked at 1:09 a.m. Thursday Jakarta Time (1809 GMT Wednesday), with the epicenter at 89 km southeast of Mukomuko district and the shallow at 10 km under the seabed, the agency said.
