Somali army says kills 150 al-Shabab militants

MOGADISHU, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- The Somali National Army said on Monday that its forces killed 150 al-Shabab militants during a week-long operation in the country's Middle Shabelle region.

Chief of Defense Forces Odowaa Yusuf Rage said al-Shabab extremists suffered heavy casualties near Aden Yabal town, which used to be the group's stronghold but was liberated recently.
