5 killed in Tanzania road accident

DAR ES SALAAM, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) -- Five people were killed on Monday after a saloon car collided head-on with a fuel tanker in Tanzania's eastern region of Morogoro, the police said on Tuesday.

Morogoro Regional Police Commander Fortunatus Musilimu said the accident occurred on Monday night at Mikumi in Kilosa district.

The five victims, who were traveling in the saloon car, died on the spot, Musilimu said, adding that preliminary investigations revealed that the driver of the saloon car attempted to overtake several vehicles before colliding with the fuel tanker.
