DAR ES SALAAM, March 3 (Xinhua) -- Tanzania Friday called on wildlife conservation stakeholders across the world to join forces towards wildlife conservation as it marked World Wildlife Day.

Mohamed Mchengerwa, minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, said the government of Tanzania is ready to collaborate with wildlife conservation stakeholders across the globe in protecting wild animals.

Speaking in the Lindi region as part of activities to mark the day, Mchengerwa said this year's theme for World Wildlife Day "Partnerships for Wildlife Conservation" was a clarion call to wildlife conservation stakeholders to amplify their conservation efforts.

He said Tanzania has set aside 32.5 percent of its land area for wildlife conservation which includes 22 national parks, 29 game reserves, 25 wetlands, 38 wildlife management areas, and three Ramsar sites.

World Wildlife Day is a United Nations international day to celebrate all the world's wild animals and plants and the contribution that they make to lives and the health of the planet.
