LUSAKA, April 12 (Xinhua) -- COVID-19 immune vaccination is an ongoing program in Zambia and people should access the services in their regions, a senior government official said Wednesday.

"We can safely say we have achieved an average of 85 percent vaccination across all the 10 provinces," said Lackson Kasonka, permanent secretary for technical services in the Ministry of Health.

In an interview with Xinhua in Zambia's capital Lusaka, Kasonka said there have not been any COVID-19 acute or death-related cases in the last quarter of 2022 and the first quarter of 2023.

"We shall continue to promote awareness because COVID-19 is still with us," he said, noting that the Ministry of Health has provided vaccines in all health centers across the country and people should access the services in their regions.
