Myanmar exports over 300 tons of honey in May


YANGON, June 14 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar exported 336.7 tons of honey in May, earning 505,000 U.S. dollars, the country's Apiculture Division said on Wednesday.

The Southeast Asian country exported 140.7 tons of honey to Thailand, 176 tons to Japan and 20 tons to South Korea during the period, the Apiculture Division said.

"Most bee farms in Myanmar are mobile or migrant bee farms that are frequently relocated based on the availability of bee feeds," U Aung Zan Htwe, deputy director-general of the Apiculture Division, told Xinhua.

Myanmar annually produces 4,000-5,000 tons of honey in the past years. Of them, the country exports about 3,000 tons of honey annually, he said.

In the 2022-23 fiscal year, Myanmar exported more than 1,900 tons of honey, earning over 2.8 million dollars, official figures showed.
