India's IndiGo airline places order for 500 Airbus A320 aircraft


NEW DELHI, June 19 (Xinhua) -- India's private airline IndiGo on Monday announced it has ordered 500 A320 aircraft from Airbus.

"This will provide IndiGo a further steady stream of deliveries between 2030 and 2035," the airline said in a statement.

The purchase agreement for the aircraft was signed on Monday at the Paris Air Show 2023 in the presence of V Sumantran, chairman of the Board of IndiGo, Pieter Elbers, CEO of IndiGo, Guillaume Faury, CEO of Airbus, and Christian Scherer, Airbus chief commercial officer.

IndiGo operates over 300 aircraft and over 1,800 flights daily, and has previous orders totaling 480 aircraft which are to be delivered by the end of 2030.
