DOHA -- Qatar has played a major role in achieving the prisoner swap deal between Iran and the United States, Qatar's Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.

"Qatar, as a reliable international mediator, has played a major and effective role in achieving consensus between the two sides," Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari, the ministry's spokesperson, said in a statement. (Qatar-Iran-U.S.-Prisoner Swap)

CAIRO -- Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met with his Saudi counterpart Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud on Tuesday in Cairo, where they called for Arab unity, solidarity and joint action to resolve crises in the Arab world.

The meeting addressed ways to enhance mechanisms of Egyptian-Saudi consultation and coordination on regional issues, including the conflicts in Sudan, Libya, Yemen and Syria, said the Egyptian Foreign Ministry in a statement. (Egypt-Saudi Arabia-Arab Unity)

TRIPOLI -- The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) on Tuesday called for an immediate cease-fire in the capital Tripoli, as the clashes between two rival armed factions have continued since Monday night.

"UNSMIL calls for immediate de-escalation and an end to the ongoing armed clashes. Violence is not an acceptable means to resolve disagreements. All parties must preserve the security gains achieved in recent years and address differences through dialogue," UNSMIL said in a statement. (Libya-Clashes-Cease-Fire)

CAIRO -- The Egyptian Ministry of Finance on Tuesday signed a 500-mln-U.S. dollar five-year financing agreement with the Abu Dhabi Exports Office (ADEX) of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to finance wheat imports, the ministry said in a statement.

"This is the first deal signed with ADEX, a financial arm of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD), in light of the two countries' strong relations and the joint cooperation for promoting development and boosting food security," the statement quoted Egyptian Minister of International Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat as saying.
