4 people killed, 10 seriously injured in bus-truck collision in central Zambia

LUSAKA, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- At least four people were burnt to death while 10 others were seriously injured when two vehicles collided head-on in central Zambia's Serenje district, the police said on Saturday.

Rae Hamoonga, the police spokesperson, said the accident occured on Saturday noon when the driver of the truck failed to keep to his near side and in the process collided with a bus coming from the opposite direction.

The police spokesperson said the impact ignited a fire burning both vehicles to ashes.

"Consequently, four unknown male suspected two from each vehicle were burnt to death," he said in a statement.

He added that 10 other people sustained serious injuries and are currently admitted to a local hospital.
