TAIPEI (Reuters) - Taiwan's government on Monday congratulated Bernardo Arevalo for winning the Guatemalan presidential election, the country being one of only 13 to maintain formal diplomatic ties with the Chinese-claimed island.

Taiwan has sent it congratulations through its embassy in Guatemala, the island's foreign ministry said in a statement.
