Attack on Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza a massacre, says Doctors Without Borders

ATHENS: The Israeli airstrike on the Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza on Tuesday (Oct 17) amounted to "a massacre”, said Doctors Without Borders (MSF).

"We are horrified by the recent Israeli bombing of Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City, which was treating patients and hosting displaced Gazans. Hundreds of people have reportedly been killed. It is absolutely unacceptable,” the medical charity stated on X, according to a report by Anadolu Agency.

Meanwhile, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) also condemned the attack. Emphasizing that hospitals must be protected under international humanitarian law, it asserted on X, "No patient should be killed in a hospital bed. No doctors should lose their lives while trying to save others."

According to Health Ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra, more than 500 people were killed in an Israeli airstrike on the hospital. Footage on social media depicted bodies scattered across the hospital grounds.
