NEW DELHI, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- Three persons died of electrocution and three others were injured while they were trying to fix a banner of a film-actor in India's southern state of Karnataka early on Monday, confirmed a local cop over phone.

The incident occurred in the state's Gadag district. The injured were admitted to a local hospital where their condition was said to be stable.

According to the cop, the film-actor's fans were trying to put up a banner fitted inside a metal frame atop a building when it came into contact with a high-voltage power cable resulting in their electrocution.
